Nordex SE (ETR:NDX1) confirmed today it has received an order from Acciona Energy Australia to equip its 157.5-MW Mortlake South wind farm in the southeastern state of Victoria that entered the construction phase last month.
The German company will supply and install 35 units of its N149/4.0-4.5 turbine for the specific project. Nordex said that the grid compatibility of this turbine model allows the machine to be perfectly adapted to the individual grid connection requirements of the Australian market.
The subsidiary of Spain’s Acciona SA (BME:ANA) held a groundbreaking ceremony for Mortlake South in early March. The AUD-288-million (USD 204m/EUR 182m) project was successful in the Victorian Renewable Energy Targets (VRET) auction process that took place in September 2018. The scheme envisages adding an energy storage component.
The Mortlake South wind farm is expected to start operations in mid-2020. It will have the capacity to generate enough power to meet the annual needs of about 115,000 homes, Nordex noted.
