NJR acquires 6.3-MW wind park in Wyoming

A unit of US energy services provider New Jersey Resources Corp (NYSE:NJR) has acquired the 6.3-MW Medicine Bow wind farm in Carbon County, Wyoming, NJR announced last week.

The purchased facility consists of nine Vestas turbines, whose output is being sold to the Platte River Power Authority. The latter distributes the electricity to municipal utilities in Estes Park, Fort Collins, Longmont and Loveland, Colorado. The wind farm qualifies for federal production tax credits (PTCs), all of which will be retained by NJR.

The buyer, NJR Clean Energy Ventures (NJRCEV), now has five onshore wind parks. Laurence Downes, chairman and CEO of New Jersey Resources, said that onshore wind now accounts for more than half of the group’s distributed power capacity.

NJRCEV is currently building the 39.9-MW Ringer Hill wind park in Somerset County, Pennsylvania. Upon its completion, the firm’s onshore wind portfolio will exceed 126 MW of capacity.
