NextEnergy Solar Fund buys UK rooftop portfolio of 1.15 MW

August 7 (Renewables Now) - NextEnergy Solar Fund Ltd (LON:NESF) said today it has acquired 282 rooftop photovoltaic (PV) plants in the UK with a combined capacity of 1.15 MW.

The assets, consisting of residential and commercial facilities, were bought through a share purchase agreement worth GBP 3.6 million (USD 4.7m/EUR 4m). The deal represents NextEnergy Solar Fund’s second acquisition of a rooftop portfolio, accordign to the statement.

The acquired plants are all operational and were connected to the grid between 2011 and 2012, receiving feed-in-tariff (FiT) subsidies and an export tariff.  The average size of the residential systems is 2 kW.

The 282 of PV plants are part of two separate portfolios, one of which includes 219 home PV arrays. The other portfolio features 63 rooftop installations, seven of which are commercial and 56 residential.

NextEnergy Solar Fund noted that the acquisition brings the number of assets in its operating portfolio to 87, representing a total capacity of 691 MW. The assets have a total investment value of GBP 894 million.
