Brazilian utility company Neoenergia SA’s (BVMF:NEOE3) wind and solar power generation in the first nine months of 2022 has increased by 84% year-on-year to 2,861 GWh.
According to a statement released by the company last week, growth was driven by the start of commercial operations of the 566.5-MW Oitis wind complex and the 149-MWp Luzia solar park, adding to the 471-MW Chafariz wind complex, already in full operation since 2021.
Neoenergia pointed out that Oitis and Luzia are not fully operational. The wind farm currently has 176 MW in commercial and test operations, while the solar plant has 124 MWp in both commercial and test operations.
In the third quarter, the company saw its power generation from wind and solar energy surge 91.69% year-on-year to 1,434 GWh.
Neoenergia's Executive Director of Renewables, Laura Porto, noted that the company invested BRL 1.5 billion (USD 298m/EUR 301.9m) in renewable power during the first nine months of 2022.
