Nautilus US Power Holdco LLC (NUPH) has purchased a 7.6-MW community solar portfolio in Maine from Minneapolis-based developer National Renewable Solutions LLC (NRS).
The portfolio is comprised of two community solar schemes in the late stages of development, Nautilus Solar Energy LLC has announced.
Located in Presque Isle, Aroostook County, the solar farms are expected to commence operation by the third quarter of 2023. Once up and running, the assets should be capable of generating more than 11 million kWh per year.
The solar output will be offered as an alternative energy option to the City of Presque Isle and other commercial off-takers within local utility Versant Power’s Maine Public District territory.
NUPH is the long-term owner of the bundle while Nautilus will oversee the construction, maintain its long-term performance, as well as acquire and manage customer subscriptions.
Currently, Maine is targeting an 80% share of renewables in its electricity mix by 2030 and 100% by 2050.
