Jul 01, 2022 17:05 CESTSKOPJE (North Macedonia), October 25 (SeeNews) – North Macedonia's gross electricity production rose by an annual 17.8% to 553,544 MWh in August, the statistical office said on Friday, citing preliminary data.
Net electricity output in August also increased - by 17.7%, to 520,383 MWh, Makstat said in a statement.
Thermal power plants contributed the largest portion of the gross domestic electricity production, generating 318,729 MWh, which was 17.1% more than in August 2018.
Combined heat and power plants generated 140,280 MWh in August, up from 72,519 MWh generated in the same month last year.
Hydro power plants followed with 81,633 MWh, down 27.9% compared to August 2018.
Electricity generated by wind parks rose by 18% year-on-year to 5,893 MWh, while biogas plants’ output fell 4.7% to 4,208 MWh. Solar parks produced 2,801 MWh of electricity, up 10% on the year.
North Macedonia’s electricity imports fell by an annual 7.2% to 155,761 MWh, while electricity exports nearly doubled to 148,158 MWh.
Distribution losses decreased by 2.0% on the year to 47,880 MWh in August.
