April 3 (Renewables Now) - Sydney-based MPower Group Ltd (ASX:MPR) is proceeding with the full design and construction of a 5-MW solar power plant in South Australia.

The company is building the solar park under an AUD-4-million (USD 2.4m/EUR 2.2m) engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract with project developer Astronergy Solar Australia Pty Ltd.

The project in question is one of the two on which MPower commenced early works in January, the company said, adding it also expects to secure a contract for the other. Both facilities should be completed this year.

MPower noted it generally seeks work on projects of this size because they are easier to hook to the grid. Last year, the firm commissioned two 5-MW solar plants at Mannum and Port Pirie in South Australia.
