BayWa r.e. wins EPC job on 30-MW solar-plus-BESS project in Hawai'i
Aug 09, 2022 15:27 CESTAugust 12 (Renewables Now) - Sustainable energy provider MPC Energy Solutions NV (FRA:5IX), also known as MPCES, and French renewables developer and operator Akuo Energy have launched the construction of a 26.55-MWp solar PV park in Colombia.
The project, dubbed Planeta Rica, will see the partners invest around USD 24 million (EUR 20.5m) through a joint venture, MPCES said today.
MPCES and Akuo Energy are the equity sponsors in the project, while Colombian commercial bank Bancolombia SA (NYSE:CIB) provided the debt financing.
Planeta Rica is expected to start operations in early third quarter of 2022.
Its output, which will be enough to energise over 100,000 Colombian homes, will be sold to an unnamed regional utility under a 15-year power purchase agreement (PPA).
Planeta Rica is the second PPA-backed project within the MPCES portfolio in Colombia. Earlier this year, the Netherlands-based company secured a PPA for its 9.5-MW Los Girasoles solar project in a private renewable energy auction led by Colombia electricity retailer Renovatio Trading Americas SAS ESP.
