MoU signed in Bosnia's Serb Republic under World Bank-backed energy efficiency project

BANJA LUKA (Bosnia and Herzegovina), September 28 (SeeNews) – The environment ministry of Bosnia’s Serb Republic said on Monday it has signed a memorandum of understanding with the entity’s health and education ministries and representatives of 11 municipalities under an energy efficiency project funded from World Bank loans.

The Serb Republic has been allocated $12.8 million (11.4 million euro) under the project.

The project activities include energy efficiency improvements in approximately 35 public buildings throughout the entity and the development of scalable energy efficiency financing models, the ministry said in a press release.

A total of 11 tenders have already been granted under this project, three in the field of health and eight in the education and culture.

The World Bank’s board of executive directors approved a credit in the amount of $32 million for the Bosnia and Herzegovina Energy Efficiency Project in 2014. Bosnia is made up of two autonomous entities, the Serb Republic and the Muslim-Croat Federation.
