CHISINAU (Moldova), December 21 (SeeNews) – Moldova's Bioenergagro and a Swiss company will build a 25 million euro ($33 million) biogas plant within an industrial park in northern Moldova, the southeast European country said on Tuesday.
Bioenergagro will manage the industrial park and the construction of the plant, an official at the Economy Ministry, who declined to be named, told SeeNews.
The official did not elaborate on the name of Bioenergagro's Swiss partner.
In February Zurich-based Zorg Biogas, which designs, procures, constructs and operates biogas plants, said its unit Zorg Ukraine received an order from Bioenergagro for the construction of a biogas plant, with a budget of about 10 million euro. It also said that the plot for the biogas plant was ready, engineering works had commenced and that the project had the Moldovan government's support.
The annual capacity of the plant will be 16 million cubic metres of gas, which will go towards domestic consumption, the Moldovan Economy Ministry said in a statement on Tuesday.
The plant will also produce 60,000 tonnes of biofertilisers per year.
Moldova's consumption of natural gas fell by 8.9% last year to 1.03 billion cubic metres.
