Marubeni to buy 50% in 205.5-MW wind farm from EDF Renewable Energy
Oct 25, 2012 - US firm EDF Renewable Energy, former enXco, said Wednesday it had agreed to sell 50% in a 205.5-MW wind project in Minnesota to Japanese trader Marubeni Corp (TYO:8002), without providing financial details.
The Lakefield Wind Project is currently supplying electricity through a 20-year power purchase agreement with Indianapolis Power & Light. The farm was launched in 2011 and features 137 1.5-MW wind turbines of General Electric (NYSE:GE) and capable of covering the power needs of over 68,000 households.
EDF Renewable Services will remain
exclusive provider of operations and maintenance services for the farm. Marubeni will be involved in asset management and the administration of the project together with EDF Renewable Energy.
EDF Renewable Energy and EDF Renewable Services are both part of French firm EDF Energies Nouvelles.
