Longi Solar hits 24.06% conversion efficiency for mono-PERC cells

January 17 (Renewables Now) - China’s Longi Solar announced on Wednesday that it has achieved a world record conversion efficiency of 24.06% for bifacial monocrystalline silicon PERC solar cells.

The company said in a statement that the record-breaking solar cell in standard wafer dimension was tested by the National Center of Supervision and Inspection on Solar Photovoltaic Product Quality (CPVT) in China.

"This is the first time that the efficiency of monocrystalline PERC solar cells in commercial dimensions have exceeded 24%," stated Li Hua, LONGi Solar, Vice President of Cell R&D.

Longi Solar first reported a record-breaking efficiency (22.17%) for a monocrystalline silicon PERC cell in April 2017 and repeated this success in October 2017. In August 2018 it became the first in China to achieve the highest efficiency of P-type mono-PERC bifacial solar cells, reaching 23.11%.
