Lamprell Plc (LON:LAM) said today it has won a USD-225-million (EUR 213m) contract from ScottishPower Renewables for the fabrication of multiple jackets and piles for the 714-MW East Anglia One offshore wind farm in the UK.
Lamprell will procure, fabricate and supply 60 foundations to ScottishPower Renewables, which is a unit of Spanish utility Iberdrola (BME:IBE). Fabrication work at Lamprell's Jebel Ali and Sharjah yards in the UAE is expected to begin in March 2017. The foundations will be delivered between March and October 2018.
The company will cooperate with Harland & Wolff in Belfast on this project. The latter will perform jacket assembly works.
East Anglia One will be built off the Suffolk Coast in the North Sea and will consist of 102 units of Siemens’ (ETR:SIE) 7-MW wind turbines. Together, the machines will be capable of generating enough power to supply more than 500,000 homes every year.
The offshore wind park is due to be fully commissioned in early 2020.
