Lalamilo Wind Co to build 3.3-MW wind park in Hawaii - report
Jun 24, 2014 - California-based firm Lalamilo Wind Co LLC intends to repower a wind farm in Hawaii that went out of commission in 2010 by building a new 3.3-MW park for a total cost of USD 13 million (EUR 9.5m).
The repowered Lalamilo wind farm in South Kohala will comprise five 660-kW turbines that will power the eight water wells run by Hawaii County's Department of Water Supply, the Pacific Business News said yesterday. The wind park will sell the generated electricity to Hawaii Electric Light Co (HELCO), which owned the original 2.7-MW Lalamilo facility.
The developer expects the upgraded wind farm to begin commercial operations in the first quarter of next year, following 18 months of construction works. Lalamilo Wind Co will also be the one to operate the facility.
