Jones Bros starts work on 18.4-MW Scottish wind park expansion
Aug 25, 2014 - Wales-based Jones Bros Civil Engineering UK said last Wednesday it had commenced work on the 18.4-MW expansion of the 57.5-MW Mid Hill wind park in Aberdeenshire, Scotland.
Norway-based project developer Fred. Olsen Renewables has picked Jones Bros to be the principal contractor for the eight-turbine Mid Hill II wind farm, the latter noted. The deal envisages Jones Bros delivering site tracks, crane pads and the turbine bases. On-site infrastructure is also included.
The project will comprise eight 2.3-MW turbines supplied by Germany’s Siemens AG (FRA:SIE). Jones Bros mentioned that the turbine bases are expected to be completed later in 2014.
Fred. Olsen Renewables said in April it had obtained the needed funds for the expansion of the existing 25-turbine facility. Once completed, the 76-MW wind park will be producing enough electricity to power 43,000 households, the developer had calculated previously.
