John Laing, Infinergy achieve financial close on 8.2-MW wind park in Wales
Dec 18, 2012 - UK specialist infrastructure provider John Laing plc and wind developer Infinergy last week announced financial close on their 8.2-MW joint wind project in Pembrokeshire, Wales.
Wear Point wind park, to be located near the town of Milford Haven, is 80% owned by John Laing and 20% by Infinergy, which developed the plans for the project and obtained planning permission from Pembrokeshire County Council in May 2010.
Construction work at the site is expected to begin in early 2013, with the wind farm to be fully operational by the end of the year.
Repower UK, the local unit of German firm Repower Systems AG, part of Indian wind turbine maker Suzlon Energy (BOM:532667), is providing the wind turbine technology, hubs, blades and a 15-year service package for the project, while local firm Mabey Bridge is expected to supply the towers. The wind park will sell generated electricity to Norway-based power group Statkraft under a 15-year power purchase agreement.
