May 30 (Renewables Now) - Japanese glass and glazing systems supplier Nippon Sheet Glass Co Ltd (TYO:5202), also known as NSG Group, announced last week the start of operation of a 1.4-MW solar array at its Rossford facility in Ohio.
Under a power purchase agreement (PPA) with a unit of US utility American Electric Power Co Inc (NASDAQ:AEP), the new photovoltaic (PV) installation will supply 2.5 million kWh of clean electricity per year to NSG Group for more than 20 years.
The PV array was built on a repurposed brownfield site and features more than 4,300 advanced thin-film solar panels supplied by First Solar Inc (NASDAQ:FSLR) and using the NSG Group's solar energy glass products.
The Japanese firm also has a 250-kW solar array in Northwood, Ohio, and a 2.29-MW PV farm in Lathom, UK.
