Japanese oil company Eneos Corp, a unit of Eneos Holdings Inc (TYO:5020), is set to start to construction of an 8.5-MW photovoltaic (PV) plant in Wakayama prefecture.
The project will be realised on unused land of one of its refineries in Arida municipality which will be shut down next year, Eneos said on Monday.
Eneos, which aims to reach carbon neutrality by 2040, is planning to put the PV park into operation in August 2023.
The company noted it currently has a total domestic green generation capacity of 663 MW, including the capacity it has on projects from Japan Renewable Energy (JRE) as of end-June 2022. Solar energy accounts for the bulk of the portfolio with 486 MW. Onshore wind parks add 86 MW and 91 MW come from biomass-fired plants.
