Chinese firm JA Solar Holdings Co Ltd (NASDAQ:JASO) said Monday it has officially kicked off mass production at its new 1.5-GW fully-automated photovoltaic (PV) panel factory in Hebei province.
The manufacturing facility is located in the Economic Development District of the southern prefecture-level city of Xingtai. The plant has the annual capacity to produce 1.5 GW of modules comprising either 60 or 72 of JA Solar's high-efficiency PERCIUM cells.
The fully-automated assembly lines installed at the site can make both regular and double-glass modules. All of the factory’s stringers have been equipped with artificial intelligence capable of switching soldering configurations between four and five busbars of cell contact patterns, says the press release.
“The grand opening of our fully automated module manufacturing facility in Xingtai marks JA Solar taking one step forward in terms of intelligent manufacturing,” CEO and executive chairman, Baofang Jin, said. The annual production per capita is estimated at 2 MW, which JA Solar says is the highest among the peers in the industry.
