J-Power puts 44.6-MW wind park online in Japan

Japan’s Electric Power Development Co Ltd, known as J-Power, announced today it has just reached commercial operations at a 44.6-MW wind park in Iwate prefecture.

Named Kuzumaki No2 Windfarm, the renewables facility consists of 22 wind turbines supplied by Japanese conglomerate Hitachi Ltd (TYO:6501).

The new wind park is the company's second of its kind in Iwate prefecture and its 25th in Japan. At present, J-power's Japanese operational wind power capacity totals roughly 575 MW, including Kuzumaki.

When taking into account a 41.53-MW wind plant under construction in Japan and a further 214 MW of offshore wind capacity under construction overseas, J-Power’s global wind power portfolio amounts to some 831 MW, the company noted.
