Oct 2, 2012 - UK renewable energy producer Infinis Plc today said it had achieved financial close on a GBP-75-million (USD 121m/EUR 94m) financing facility with National Australia Bank Ltd (ASX:NAB) to fund the construction of five wind farms in the UK totalling 52.5 MW.
Infinis, a portfolio company of private equity group Terra Firma, said the wind parks were expected to start operations by the end of March next year, boosting its installed onshore wind capacity to almost 275 MW. Infinis' total owned and operated capacity, including the company's landfill gas and hydro facilities, is forecast to stand at slightly less than 635 MW by March 2013, up nearly 15% on a year earlier.
Two of the five wind projects are located in Scotland, the 12.5-MW Gordonstown Hill scheme in Aberdeenshire and the 10-MW Westfield facility in Fife. The other three are in Englad, the 7.5-MW Blackstone Edge development in South Yorkshire, the 7.5-MW Tedder Hill project in East Riding of Yorkshire and the 15-MW Wingates scheme in Northumberland.
Planning consents for these projects were secured in the period between May 2009 and September 2011.
