IBC Solar wraps up 2.3-MW solar array in Japan

Nov 28, 2014 - German photovoltaic (PV) systems provider IBC Solar AG said Thursday it has finalised a 2.3-MW solar power project in Japan and handed the plant over to an unnamed local investor.

IBC Solar in 2013 teamed up with Japanese project developer Deneb Renewable Energy for the development of the scheme, whereas it constructed the facility in cooperation with local system integrator Yokohama Kankyo Design Co Ltd (YKD).

The Sakura solar system, located near Tokyo, will use 9,100 of IBC’s PolySol 255 modules. Apart from pre-financing the system, the company also secured for it a feed-in-tariff (FiT) by the Japanese government offers for at least 20 years.

The company explained that such projects are in line with its international growth strategy. In 2014 alone, it has initiated the construction of three large-scale solar farm in Japan. IBC is cooperating as EPC contractor and project developer with different local financial investors, it added.
