Oct 15, 2012 - Danish firm Greentech Energy Systems A/S (CPH:GES) said today its total gross production of electricity from wind farms and solar photovoltaic (PV) plants was 317,042 MWh in the first nine months of 2012, up by 32% on the year.
Net production amounted to 260,263 MWh in January-September 2012, up from 182,337 MWh a year earlier.
In September alone, gross production totalled 31,543 MWh, an increase by 27% year-on-year, and net production grew to 25,853 MWh from 19,428 MWh. The figures for September 2012 include expected electricity losses.
Greentech's gross wind power capacity increased to 252 MW in September 2012 from 250 MW in the same month in 2011, while solar power capacity was unchanged at 40 MW.
The company said that last month's wind power output was 9% better than expected and 39% higher than a year earlier. Production at the wind farms in Denmark, Italy and Poland exceeded expectations due to favourable wind conditions. The turbines in Spain performed according to plan, while those in Germany were affected by poor wind conditions.
On the other hand, the output of Greentech's PV plants, which are located in Italy and Spain, dropped by 11% on the year due to weaker-than-normal solar conditions. Yet, their combined production in the first nine months 2012 was 22% higher than in the year-earlier period.
