Greenbacker buys 9.3 MW of US solar from BNRG Renewables

August 14 (Renewables Now) - New York-based Greenbacker Renewable Energy Company LLC said on Tuesday it has bought the rights to a 9.27-MW solar project portfolio in Oregon from a unit of BNRG Renewables Ltd.

The specific portfolio, called OR Solar, includes three photovoltaic (PV) projects of around 3 MW each that are planned to be switched on between November 2019 and January 2020. Power purchase agreement (PPAs) with 15-year terms have already been signed with an unnamed investment-grade Oregon utility.

BNRG will oversee the delivery of the projects, through contractor Evergreen Solar Services, while Greenbacker will be their owner and operator.

The acquisition of the OR Solar portfolio, the value of which was not disclosed, will expand renewable investor Greenbacker’s generation capacity to around 410 MW, including to-be-constructed plants. Its assets comprise of 62 MW of wind, 336 MW of utility-scale and distributed solar and 12 MW of biomass capacity.
