February 20 (Renewables Now) - New York-based Greenbacker Renewable Energy Company LLC said on Tuesday it has agreed to buy the managing member interest to a 6.3-MW portfolio of solar parks in Indiana.
The so-called Rockville portfolio includes a 3.1-MW photovoltaic (PV) park and a rooftop installation of 3.2 MW, both located in Indianapolis. The seller of the assets is US energy saving services provider Melink Corp, while financial details on the deal were not provided.
The two solar plants have been generating electricity since 2014 and are selling their output under 15-year power purchase agreements with utility Indianapolis Power & Light. Around 10 years are remaining under the contracts, Greenbacker said.
Following the latest purchase, Greenbacker will own about 377.7 MW of generating capacity, including to-be-constructed assets. The portfolio will consist of 316.2 MW of utility-scale and distributed solar and 61.5 MW of wind power facilities.
