Feb 3 (Renewables Now) - A floating solar project of 47.5-MWp at southern Veitnam’s Da Mi Lake has been endorsed by the Binh Thuan Provincial People's Committee.
The committee has asked for the solar scheme to be included in the national power plan until 2030 so that it can be realised. The investment is estimated at VND 1.5 trillion (USD 67m/EUR 62m) and the photovoltaic (PV) park can be online in 2019, the Ministry of Industry and Trade said last week.
The project developer Da Nhim-Ham Thuan-Da Mi JSC has been given the go-ahead to conduct a feasibility study for the project.
According to the ministry’s statement, the floating solar park would cover 57 hectares and produce 69 million kWh in its first year of operation.
The floating solar concept is gaining popularity in Asia, with several projects in Japan, China and Singapore. China recently put into operation a 200-MW solar plant at fishery reservoirs, one of the biggest installations of that kind globally.
