Aug 11, 2014 - UK renewable power supplier Good Energy Group Plc (LON:GOOD) today said its wind farms had generated about 16.8 GWh of electricity during the first half of 2014, up 13% year-on-year.
High wind levels and the commissioning of the 8.2-MW Hampole wind park near Doncaster during the period drove up output. The company also operates the 9.2-MW Delabole wind park in North Cornwall. Apart from that, it has two solar parks - the 5-MW Woolbridge facility in Dorset and the 1.8-MW Creathorne Farm in North Cornwall.
Good Energy collaborates with about 66,000 small and medium scale renewable electricity generators to supply its customers with power. The firm's goal is to deliver 50% from its own renewable energy assets by 2016.
During the first half, the company’s electricity customers rose by 35% year-on-year to about 46,000. Including gas customers, the company’s overall customer base went up by 36% to around 132,000.
Good Energy also said its full-year performance is seen to be in line with its expectations. This, however, would depend on how much the firm will earn from the planned sale of its 49.9-MW West Raynham solar park in Norfolk to China-based Trina Solar Ltd (NYSE:TSL) as well as on continued customer growth and no additional reduction in energy consumption.
The company went on to say that during the first half it received planning approvals for two solar parks of 49.9 MW and 4.9 MW and is currently waiting for clearance to build a 25-MW wind farm in Cornwall. At present, the firm is developing over 64 MW of solar projects that have already been approved.
