Germany’s PowerWind Enters Bulgarian Market with 900 KW Wind Turbine

SOFIA (Bulgaria), December 9 (SeeNews) – German wind turbine manufacturer PowerWind said it has commissioned a 900 kilowatt turbine on the Bulgarian market, its first delivery to a customer in the southeast European country.

The Hamburg-based company said in a statement it has commissioned its PowerWind 56 wind turbine to Bulgaria's Milenium Group near Kavarna, five kilometres away from the Black Sea coast.

"The […] project marks a successful entry into the Bulgarian market. Our positive experience with the Milenium Group and the project have encouraged us to further expand our marketing activities in Bulgaria", PowerWind CEO Stefan Heczko said.

PowerWind is conducting sales talks with other customers in Bulgaria and expects follow-up orders in the coming months, the company said.

"We wanted a state-of-the-art wind turbine that delivers maximum yield for our Bulgarian sites. The PowerWind 56 turbine was exactly that", Milenium Group manager Lyubomir Nikolov said in the same statement.

PowerWind produces wind energy converters with rated outputs of 900 kW and 2500 kW and supplies services specifically related to these products. The company was founded in 2007 and is financed by the New York-based Warburg Pincus private equity fund.

The 900 kW PowerWind 56 wind turbine has been in production since January 2008. The production of a 2.5 MW PowerWind 90 turbine unveiled in March will start in 2010.

Bulgaria is the third eastern European country which PowerWind has entered after Poland and Romania.
