Germany’s KfW Lends 71 Mln Euro for Bosnia’s First Wind Farm Project
German development bank KfW said it has lent 71 million euro ($96 million) to Bosnia for the construction of the country’s first wind farm, Mesihovina.
KfW is also granting 1.0 million euro to the wind farm project, it said in a statement after the Tuesday signing of the loan agreement.
The Mesihovina wind park, to be located in the western municipality of Tomislavgrad, will comprise 22 wind turbines with an installed capacity of two megawatts each. The construction works should be completed in late 2012.
“With an average wind speed of above 6 m/second signatories expect an annual generation of 115 GWh [gigawatt hours] by wind farm Mesihovina,” KfW said.
The German bank allocated over 200 million euro for renewable energy projects in Bosnia in the last three years and more financing is in the pipeline.
