Aug 28, 2013 - The newly-installed wind power capacity in Germany is expected to grow by 20% on the year to 3.1 GW in 2013, sector association BWE projected.
This would be the highest amount of wind-generated power to be connected to the German grid in ten years, the association said.
In the first half of this year, the newly-installed capacity stood at 1.038 GW onshore and 105 MW offshore, a poll of wind power producers showed. New offshore capacity is expected to reach 200 MW by the end of 2013.
Unclear rules and regulations regarding the expansion of offshore wind power in Germany is currently slowing down the process. Thorsten Herdan, head of wind sector association VDMA Power Systems, said today that there should be no more investments in offshore wind by 2015 until no clear legislation is set. He urged the German states and the federal government to agree on new guidelines for the expansion once the general election in September is over.
