Germany awards 155.6 MW of solar-plus-storage in Aug innovation tender

As many as 16 solar-plus-storage projects with a combined capacity of 155.6 MW won the innovation tender in Germany with a bid deadline of August 1, the Federal Network Agency said on Wednesday.

The tender targeted a combination of two renewable energy systems with different generation technology that are connected to the grid at the same point and had a volume of 250 MW.

It was slightly undersubscribed as 23 projects, all of them for a combination of solar power and storage systems, with a total capacity of nearly 250 MW were submitted. Six of the bids were excluded from the tender. Interest in the latest innovation tender was significantly lower than in the prior one in April when 43 projects with nearly 509 MW capacity competed.

The average volume-weighted award value for the August tender stood at EUR 0.045/kWh with the lowest value arriving at EUR 0.040/kWh and the highest at EUR 0.055/kWh. In the April tender, the highest value was EUR 0.049/kWh and the lowest came in at EUR 0.033/kWh, while the average value amounted to EUR 0.043/kWh.
