German solar installations in Apr 2014 fall by 52% Y/Y
Jun 3, 2014 - Germany installed 6,899 new solar power plants with the total capacity of 163 MW in April 2014, which is a decrease of 52% year-on-year, according to figures by the Federal Network Agency BNetzA.
Despite the annual drop, solar power additions increased on a monthly basis as compared to 6,600 of new solar power installations with a total capacity of 155.8 MW connected to the grid in March.
In the first four months of 2014, the new solar capacity installations in Germany almost halved to 622.7 MW from 1.1 GW in the previous year. The drop is attributable to the continuous reduction of the solar feed-in tariffs, BNetzA said.
As of April 30, Germany has a total of 36.3 GWp of solar power installations, the agency added.
