German consumption of renewable energy increases by 3.3% Y/Y for 9mo 2011
(SeeNews) – Dec 8, 2011 – Germany's consumption of renewable energy increased by a total of 3.3% on the year for the first nine months of 2011, the German Working Group on Energy Balances, said on Tuesday.
The strongest growth in consumption was registered by the photovoltaic (PV) sector, which increased by 58%. Consumption of wind energy climbed by 16.5%, while consumption of hydro power decreased by about 9%.
The share of renewable energy in the total power mix rose slightly to 10.5%.
Total consumption increased by 4.2% to 9,808 Petajoule (PJ) for the months January-September.
What is more, the consumption of nuclear power decreased by 21% to some 9% of the whole consumption.
