(SeeNews) – Sep 10, 2012 - German biogas energy producer Agri.Capital GmbH said today it took over the 2.25 MW biogas plants located in the Buerstadt energy park in Hesse, Germany.
The energy park Buerstadt consists of two independent biogas plants, both built in 2008. The first plant, which is to be connected back to the grid in December 2012, is for the processing of renewable energy crops. The second plant recycles food waste and will re-start production in the spring of 2013.
In addition to the first two facilities, which stopped production after the insolvency of their previous owner, Agri.Capital informed that it will build a third processing plant to refine the produced biogas to natural gas quality.
Agri.Capital said that now as an owner, it will invest EUR 4 million (USD 5.11m) to update the equipment of the plants with the latest technology and to optimise their efficiency.
With 80 biogas plants and a capacity of about 70 MW, Agri.Capital now claims to be the largest biogas based energy producer in Germany.
