Germany-based Gehrlicher Solar, contracted to build and operate a solar park in Romania, said it will hook to the grid on Thursday the 8.75 megawatts peak (MWp) project.
The Isaccea park, which is financed by Romanian investor Ra Ra Parc SRL, is located on 14 hectares in southeastern Romania, the company said in a statement on Monday. The plant, equipped with modules of China's JA Solar and inverters of Germany's SMA Solar, will be operated and maintained by Gehrlicher Solar, the statement added.
The green energy generated by the facility will save approximately 10,400 tonnes of CO2 emissions annually. The first 800 kWp part of the park was completed and technically approved in mid-October.
Ra Ra Parc have implemented in Romania several renewable energy projects, including two wind farms. All the investments have been made under the renewable energy certificates (RECs) scheme of the copuntry, approved by the European Commission in July 2011.
Gehrlicher Solar, active in photovoltaic (PV) facilities development and operation, is working on other projects of Ra Ra Parc - a 536 kWp rooftop system in Brasov and several undertakings at planning stages.
