Spanish wind turbine manufacturer Gamesa SA (BME:GAM) has obtained local-content certification by the Brazilian development bank, BNDES, for its G114-2.0 MW turbine and the 2.1-MW version of the model.
This means that the turbine now qualifies for access to the development bank's lines of financing, Gamesa said on Friday. The company will produce the model at its nacelle factory in Camacari, Bahia state, starting from 2016. It is working with local suppliers for the manufacturing of the turbine's towers and blades.
The certification "demonstrates Gamesa's commitment to continuing to invest in the production of turbines tailored to the needs of the Brazilian market, facilitated by qualification for support from key programmes such as the BNDES credit facilities," says Edgard Corrochano, Gamesa's managing director in Brazil.
Gamesa has so far received firm orders for over 800 MW of its G114-2.0 MW machine.
The company has already certified its G97-2.0 MW turbine under the BNDES requirements.
