December 3 (Renewables Now) - French wind power producer Futuren SA (EPA:FTRN) said on Monday it has put on stream 50.8 MW of wind parks in France, lifting its installed capacity at home to 271 MW gross.
More specifically, the company has commissioned the 38-MW Coteaux wind farm in municipalities of Feuges, Aubeterre, Montsuzain and Sainte-Maure, in Aube department. With 11 turbines of 3.45 MW of each, the plant is expected to produce enough electricity annually to supply over 33,000 homes per year.
The newly-commissioned capacity also includes the 12.8-MW Mazurier wind farm in Aisne department, which is powered by four 3.2-MW turbines. The combined output of those machines is seen to cover the annual power demand of more than 12,000 households.
Separately, Futuren said it has secured a permit to build and operate a four-turbine wind park in France’s Charente-Maritime department.
The French firm, which is currently the acquisition target of EDF Renouvelables, the renewables arm of EDF SA (EPA:EDF), now owns 501 MW of gross installed wind capacity globally.
