Fusion Fuel (NASDAQ:HTOO), a green hydrogen company with locations in Ireland and Portugal, on Thursday said it has signed a contract to supply its solar-to-hydrogen system to KEME Energy for a 1.22-MW green hydrogen project in Sines, Portugal.
The signing of the EUR-2-million technology sale agreement comes after the two companies formed a partnership for the project in February.
The scheme will be located in the Sines Industrial and Logistics Zone and is backed by a EUR-2.4-million grant from Portugal’s POSEUR programme. Featuring 62 of Fusion Fuel’s HEVO-Solar trackers, it is expected to produce 77 tonnes of green hydrogen a year to meet demand in the mobility sector. Fusion Fuel expects to start construction of the facility in early 2023 and bring it into operation in the second half of the same year. The company’s technology is a modular, integrated solar-to-hydrogen generator that is powered by a proprietary miniaturised polymer electrolyte membrane (PEM) electrolyser.
KEME Energy, a company specialising in renewable energy self-consumption projects, and Fusion Fuel are looking to partner on more projects in the future.
This contract comes shortly after last week Fusion Fuel announced a deal with Spanish developer Gedisol to supply its solar-to-hydrogen systems for a 3.2-MW green hydrogen project in Andalucia, Spain.
