Furnas to hold auction for wind, solar power contracts in Nov

Brazilian utility Furnas Centrais Eletricas SA, plans to hold an energy auction on November 12, 2020 to contract wind and solar power.
Furnas did not disclose the specific amount of energy it seeks but stated in the tender notice that the projects should have a maximum capacity of 50 MW. The new capacity will be used to meet demand in the Northeast, Southeast and Midwest markets.
The company will award power purchase agreements (PPA) with power supply set to start on January 1, 2024 and end on December 31, 2038 for both sources.
To participate in the tender, companies have to meet certain criteria, such as to be registered with the Brazilian Electric Power Commercialization Chamber (CCEE) as energy sellers.
