October 31 (Renewables Now) - Fluence Corp Ltd (ASX:FLC) on Tuesday said it has won a EUR-1.7-million (USD 1.9m) contract from ArreBeef Energia SA to design and build a waste-to-energy system in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

The system will feature anaerobic digestion (AD) technology that will produce biogas, using sludge and byproducts from meat processing, as well as electrical and thermal energy.

ArreBeef Energia will use the electrical and thermal energy to power its own operations, thereby lowering its operating costs.

As part of the project, Fluence will be upgrading the company’s existing wastewater treatment plant. These systems are expected to be up and running by November 2019.

With these projects, Fluence’s first waste-to-energy solution in Argentina, ArreBeef Energia will feed energy into the grid in Buenos Aires, allowing the firm to benefit from incentives under Argentina’s RenovAR initiative.
