First turbine starts work at E.On 150-MW wind project in Illinois
Oct 21, 2011 - The North American arm of German utility E.On (ETR: EOAN) said Thursday that the first turbine of its 150-MW Pioneer Trial wind farm project in the US state of Illinois had started producing power.
The project, located in the Ford and Iroquois counties, is to come on stream by the middle of 2012. It includes 94 GE 1.6-MW turbines, which will generate enough power to meet the needs of over 45,000 local households, E.On Climate and Renewables North America calculates.
US White Construction Co is in charge of the project's construction, which is seen to open some 200 temporary jobs. E.On said the facility would create eight to 10 permanent positions.
