Power distribution company EVN Bulgaria started construction works on a 10 million lev ($7.3 million/5.1 million euro) solar park in southeastern Bulgaria, it said on Wednesday.
The 2,000 kilowatt-peak (kWp) solar park, located near the Black Sea city of Burgas, is expected to have an annual electricity output of 2.4 million kilowatthours (kWh), EVN Bulgaria, which is part of Austrian power utility EVN, said in a statement.
The company plans to complete the construction works by the beginning of July. It will then carry out technical tests before bringing the park on stream.
This is EVN Bulgaria’s second solar project in the country. In 2010 it completed a 836.7 kWp solar park near the southeastern Bulgarian city of Sliven, worth 6.0 million levs.
EVN Bulgaria (www.evn.bg) is the power distributor for Plovdiv city and the region of southeast Bulgaria, supplying electricity to some 1.6 million customers.
