Eurus Energy targets 4.3 GW of wind capacity in 5 years - report

Jul 21, 2014 - Japanese company Eurus Energy Holdings Corp aims to double its global wind capacity to 4.31 GW by the end of March 2019, its president Masami Shimizu told local newspaper The Asahi Shimbun.

For the purpose, Eurus Energy will make investment of some JPY 280 billion (USD 2.76bn/EUR 2.04bn), Shimizu said in the interview published today. The company will mainly install wind parks in the US and Europe and will also seek to accelerate work on projects at home, such as in the prefectures of Akita and Kagoshima and the island of Hokkaido.

Shimizu also noted the company is keen on installing offshore wind parks. It has already started on-site investigation about such a project at a port in Wakkanai, Hokkaido.

Toyota Tsusho Corp (TYO:8015) and Tokyo Electric Power Co Inc (TYO:9501) are the joint owners of Eurus Energy.
