BELGRADE (Serbia), September 13 (SeeNews) – Serbia’s southern city of Vranje said it has signed a preliminary deal with U.S.-based renewable energy company Euro Solar Parks for the development of a 150 megawatt (MW) photovoltaic park.
Euro Solar Parks has entered into a strategic partnership with a private Chinese renewable energy company to implement the project, the Vranje local authorities said in a statement on the city's website on Monday after signing the preliminary deal.
The multi-stage project is expected to be completed within five years. It will start with the construction of a 10 MW facility on an area of 30 hectares in Vranje.
The project in Vranje will contribute to the company’s stronger expansion in Southeast Europe and is also a great opportunity for Serbia to develop its renewable energy capacity, the director of the company's Serbian unit and regional director for the Southeast Europe Gvapo Tripovic said in the statement.
The first stage of the Vranje solar power project will have an investment cost of 300 million euro ($410 million), Serbian news provider eKapija (www.ekapija.rs) reported on Monday.
