Italian energy company ERG SpA (BIT:ERG) on Friday announced it has secured a 21.6-MW project in Germany’s latest onshore wind power auction.
The capacity was awarded to Windpark Linda GmbH & Co KG, a subsidiary of the Italian company. Construction of the plant is scheduled to begin in the next few weeks with the aim of bringing it online in the second half of 2019. Once up and running, the wind park will be able to produce around 50 GWh of electricity annually and mitigate around 39,000 carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions.
The project is in line with ERG’s overseas expansion, the company said, adding that it continues to pursue organic growth in Germany. In its second onshore wind tender this year, the country targeted 670.16 MW of capacity but got bids for just 604 MW. Bids ranged from EUR 0.0465 (USD 0.055) to EUR 0.0628 per kWh.
