Aug 24, 2012 - The 201.6-MW Magic Valley wind farm in Texas was officially opened on Thursday by E.ON Climate & Renewables (EC&R) North America, part of German utility E.ON AG (ETR:EOAN), the company said in a statement.
The wind farm includes 112 Vestas 1.8-MW turbines, to produce enough power to supply over 60,000 local households. The plant is located east of Raymondville and is the first wind farm in Willacy County.
The Magic Valley wind farm is the 16th operational wind facility for EC&R in North America, with the company having over 2 GW of operating plants in Texas alone. EC&R has invested more than USD 4 billion (EUR 3bn) in the US in the past four years.
