May 7 (Renewables Now) - A subsidiary of German utility E.on SE (ETR:EOAN) is acquiring the local activities of Kassel-based onshore wind projects developer Vortex Energy for an undisclosed sum.
E.on said in a press statement today that it wants to generate more wind power at home. Anja-Isabel Dotzenrath, CEO of E.ON Climate & Renewables which is making the purchase, commented that the company sees “strong growth potential for wind energy in Germany”.
On the other hand, Vortex considers this planned transaction as the best way to successfully realise its local project pipeline and maintain sustainable growth. The project pipeline currently includes wind farms totalling 300 MW and a large number of schemes at an early stage of development, according to the announcement.
The transaction involves the transfer of 30 Vortex employees in Germany and excludes the firm’s operations in Poland and Belgium. It is pending regulatory clearance.
