(ADPnews) - Dec 1, 2010 - German utility E.on AG (ETR:EOAN) said it will focus on solar power, recognizing it as the second growth driver in the renewables sector.
In the next three years E.on intends to encourage the industry so that solar power develops to the same level as the wind sector, the company said.
E.on currently has a pipeline of around 450 MW of photovoltaic (PV) farms in France and Italy and recently opened an office in Denver, USA.
The company also said that the government’s target of having around 1 million electric vehicles on the country’s roads by 2020 will generally not cause problems for the power grid. Only in cases of a locally high density of electric cars, isolated segments of the grid could be overloaded and possibly require upgrading, E.on added.
