The North American unit of German energy group E.on (ETR:EOAN) has made a 278-MW wind turbine supply order to Denmark’s Vestas Wind Systems A/S (CPH:VWS).
The contract concerns a project in the US and calls for Vestas to supply and commission 139 pieces of its V110-2.0 MW turbines. The firm and unconditional order includes a multi-year service agreement, as well.
The parties gave no details about the US project.
Vestas plans to produce the nacelles, blades and towers at its factories in Colorado. The start of deliveries is scheduled for the second quarter of 2017, while the commissioning of the wind farm is expected in the final quarter of that year.
The Danish company’s year-to-date announced order intake now stands at 4,216 MW. Since the debut of its 2-MW platform, it has installed over 33 GW globally.
