(ADPnews) - Oct 12, 2010 - German multi-utility E.on AG (ETR:EOAN) had inaugurated a new wind farm, Roedsand II, in the Baltic Sea, between the German island of Fehmarn and the Danish island of Lolland, the company said today.
The wind farm has a capacity of 207 MW and it will be delivering renewable energy to 200,000 homes, E.on said.
The volume of the total investment stands at EUR 400 million (USD 552.4m) and the project was completed three months ahead of schedule, the company added.
The wind turbines, each with a capacity of 2.3 MW were delivered by German engineering group Siemens AG (ETR:SIE).
Besides Roedsand, E.on inaugurated two other offshore wind farms this year, Robin Rigg in the UK and alpha ventus in Germany.
E.on has invested more than EUR 1 billion in offshore projects since 2001 and plans to further invest in future projects, aiming to reach a total capacity of more than 4 gigawatts, the company said.
